Pathways to Capital

Capital plays a significant role in the early years of new businesses.

90-95% of entrepreneurs that hire require some amount of financing to start their business however an estimated 83% of entrepreneurs that hire are not accessing external private institutional capital at startup. Many entrepreneurs face barriers to securing base and early-stage capital. When access to capital is tied to factors unrelated to the quality or potential of the business—such as geography, gender, race, or wealth—the flow of capital to promising entrepreneurs is stagnant.

The Make Startups Pathways to Capital Initiative utilizes our industry credentialing training model, a newly developed technology platform, and trust-based partnerships to facilitate introductions between credentialed entrepreneurs and best-fit capital providers in an effort to to accelerate new business growth for marginalized groups and under-resourced communities.

The "Make Startups: Pathways to Capital" program is an innovative, comprehensive 16 week educational program designed for credentialed entrepreneurs and is tailored to address the unique challenges and opportunities that early-stage startups face, particularly in securing the funding essential for growth.
